Keystone Levelling

instead of an XP based system or milestone, PAD will use Keystone based leveling (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BYv5F541PY&t=728s).

Players slowly fill boxes in a chart with each box representing a keystone.

Keystones could be quests or character backstory rewards. Players should always be informed of what grants them a keystone so levelling up is less random.

Keystone Levelling

Each character has a level chart containing a series of boxes. Filling these boxes advances your character toward the next level. Players always know what fills each box (quests or objectives).

Secondary Bonuses

Once per level, players can forgo getting a Keystone level and instead gain a permeant bonus to their characters. Pick from the list below.

  • Saving Throw Training: Gain training in one saving throw you aren’t already proficient in
  • Skill Training: Gain training in one skill you aren’t already proficient in.
  • Battle Hardened: Gain a permanent +1 bonus to AC
  • Resilient: Your hit point maximum increases by your Constitution modifier
  • Swift: Your movement speed permanently increases by 5 feet
