What does this class do better than any other?
Versatility. A bard should be able to apply himself to any situation and be able to perform adequately. They can be strong in certain subjects but can adapt to others easily.

Core Mechanics
What is the class’s signature resource or mechanic?
Performing Arts. A bard can start a performance that lasts a minute and requires the bard to sustain the performance. Depending on the chosen performance (most likely determined by subclass) the Bards allies will gain temporary boons.
Bardic Lore. Allows bards to use their past experiences to glean knowledge and insight into creatures, locations or items. Bards can learn new areas of knowledge by using downtime activities and a Bardic Lore roll.
What does this resource encourage players to do?
Rally around a bard and have him lead the battle
