Feature Showcase #1: Stamina
PAD uses a slightly modified version of hit points compared to DND and pf2e. Instead of just one number to represent your characters vitality, you have two: Stamina and Hit Points. Stamina represents your characters ability to dodge or negate incoming damage. Attacks that deal “damage” don’t actually harm your character physically if they reduce stamina. Instead, your character evades the attack and takes the damage to their stamina bar.
Its only once your character has expended their stamina bar that they take their first blow, gaining the Bloodied condition.
Certain classes may have more or less stamina as a portion of their maximum health. A Barbarian for example will traditionally have a very low amount of stamina but compensate for it with a higher health pool. Conversely, a rogue would have a very low amount of hit points but a lot more stamina.
Stamina and Hit Points also have rippling effects into PAD’s healing system, with Lesser Healing only restoring stamina and greater healing restoring both.
